Have you recovered from COVID-19 ?

Among growing concern over the regular increase in cases of mucormycosis, now doctors face yet another challenge. Three new fungal infection have been reported in COVID recovered patients.

After Black fungus, now we have another one in focus - White fungus also known as candidiasis(candidosis). It is caused by Candida auris(Multi Drugs Resistance Yeast Infection) mostly spreads if molds are inhaled from the infected person. It has been said that it is more dangerous than black fungus if worsen and can target vital organs.

White fungus is a misnomer for candida linked fungal infection

White fungus actually refers to the Tremella fuciformis which is a variety of edible mushroom used in Traditional Chinese cuisine and also for medicinal purposes.

So far cases has been reported from Bihar and Gujarat majorly.

Recently, a rare case of white fungus was reported in Delhi, in which the whole intestine was infected from the fungus.

Another fungal infection that has been also reported in COVID recovered patients (or in recovering patients) is Nasal aspergillosis. It is a rare kind of infection mostly reported in immuno-compromised patients. It infects sinuses of the patient, however it has been claimed that it is not as dangerous as black fungus.

India has already reported around 10k cases of black fungus, has also been announced as epidemic in most of the affected states of India.

Yellow fungus is another post COVID complication, looks like the fungus has brought vibgyor with itself. It is far more deadly than both black and white fungus as it infects the internal part of the body which makes it hard to get noticed. It is commonly found in reptiles, scientists need to study the fungus to find out why it has attacked humans.

The reason for these fungal infection are many but the medical practitioners have suggested that people with diabetic issues and high steroid intake are most likely the cause of this surge.

Yet another source also claims, it can be the use of non-sterilised water for the hydration of oxygen supply.
